每年農(nóng)歷八月十五，錢(qián)塘江涌潮最大，潮頭可達(dá)數(shù)米，農(nóng)歷8月18日前后三天是觀潮節(jié)，而且農(nóng)歷每月月初與月中皆有大潮可觀。在中秋佳節(jié)前后，八方賓客蜂擁而至，爭(zhēng)睹錢(qián)江潮的奇觀，盛況空前。文獻(xiàn)載《載敬堂集·江南靖士詩(shī)稿·觀錢(qián)塘潮》詩(shī)：“乍起悶雷疑作雨，忽看倒海欲浮山。萬(wàn)人退卻如兵潰，濁浪高于閱景壇?！本嗪贾?0公里的海寧鹽官觀潮景區(qū)是觀潮最佳處。
